Hi there and welcome to this week of Normal voices!
This week is a refreshing read, that at least made me scratch behind my ear. Have we become more obsessed with personal achievements than ever before?
After this conversation I feel differently admitting that the #1 on my priority list is: Professional ambitions. Even the fact of having a priority list in order to decide what to do when I am limited by the #hours in a day and Sleeping faster is practically not possible
This week is again a short read, as I am experimenting with the length of the conversations. Having shorter conversation makes it more digestible. Is Normal Voices like a brain snack that sparks some interests, rather than a proper long-read, that goes very in-depth on all topics touched upon? My gut-feeling says that’s the way to go and “Eric Riessing” my way, I will test to see and hear what you think.
In any case ENJOY!
#5 Normal voices
Hello there! Thanks for joining Normal voices! Could you describe yourself in three words?
Caring, cheerful and positive.
Being caring, what are thew two things you care most about?
Family and my surroundings.
When speaking of your surroundings, do you mean your house or the people around you or something else?
I mean my house.
If you had the possibilities, what would be your dream house?
An apartment in the city with a nice view, lots of space and decorated with many plants and pictures on the walls.
Goals! What do you think is the worst characteristics someone can have?
Selfishness, being mean to anyone or anything vulnerable and jealousy.
Do you think a lot of people have those traits and that this has increased in the past years?
I don’t think a lot of people have those traits but jealousy and selfishness have increased in my opinion.
Do you think there is a general reason why this has increased?
Because of the focus on personal achievements or desires has increased over the years.
Super interesting and I do see this as well (myself included). What do you think has caused this (for example social media, internet, or due to parents)?
I would say the rise of social media and pressure of parents / society and the school system.
Do you think more people feel like you do but don't dare to say so?
Yes there is a big silent group. But I don’t think it is because all of them don’t dare to say so. Many also just live their life without a platform to speak.
And because they probably don't have the urge/need to let other people know what they feel?
Yes that too.
Okay last question: if you could do anything you want tomorrow. What would you do?
Go out in nature for a hike and after that relax in a sauna/wellness.
